CEO blogger and podcaster Bill Marriott of Marriott International Inc., the world’s biggest hotel chain, was paid total compensation last year of $12.6 million, according to the company’s proxy statement filed yesterday.
Marriott, 75, who has not been shy to tackle contentious subjects on his blog, Marriott on the Move, has even more reason to feel blessed.
Yesterday, he welcomed the birth of a new grandchild — a beautiful seven pounds, one ounce baby girl.

It’s hard to begrudge Bill his pay given that he has captained the company for 35 years and seen it grow into the world’s biggest hotel chain by revenue with 2006 earnings of $608 million and revenue of $12 billion.
Still, I’m interested to see if or how Bill tackles the pay question on his blog.
